Pebbo was a small, round stone who lived by a quiet path. Every morning, he watched the sunrise paint the grass golden.
He loved rolling through the soft moss. "Wheee!" he whispered to himself, feeling the tickly green beneath him.
One day, a butterfly landed right on Pebbo! "Hello, little stone," she said. "Want to play?"
Pebbo wanted to say yes, but the words got stuck inside him. So he rolled away instead, tumbling down the hill.
He rolled past a friendly rabbit. "Good morning!" called Rabbit. But Pebbo just kept rolling, too shy to stop.
Through fields of flowers he rolled, past chirping birds and buzzing bees. Everyone seemed so chatty and brave!
Pebbo rolled until he couldn't roll anymore. He was tired and alone. "Why can't I just say hello?" he wondered sadly.
He tried practicing. "H-hello," he whispered to a dandelion. But even the flower made him nervous!
Just then, Pebbo heard a wonderful sound - splash, splash, whoosh! What could that be?
He peeked over a sandy hill and gasped. A whole beach full of pebbles, just like him! They were playing in the waves.
"Come join us!" called a sparkly pebble. Pebbo took a deep breath and rolled down slowly.
"I'm Shimmer!" said the sparkly one. "And I'm Rocky!" said another. They didn't mind that Pebbo was quiet at first.
They played wave-tag and made sand castles together. Finally, Pebbo felt brave enough. "I'm Pebbo!" he said with a big smile.
"Hooray for Pebbo!" cheered all the pebbles. They rolled and splashed until the sun turned orange.
Now Pebbo had found his place. With friends who understood him, being brave was easy. "See you tomorrow!" he called happily.
