Story Preview
Under the biggest oak tree in the forest lived Branko the boar. He loved his cozy home with all its twisty roots.
Every morning, Branko watched squirrels gather acorns. "I want to help too!" he said, wiggling his little tail.
But when Branko tried to pick up an acorn... BONK! He bumped his snout on a low branch. "Ouch!" Acorns rained down everywhere!
"I'll use my tusks!" Branko decided. He scooped up acorns like a shovel. Scoop, scoop, WHOOPS!
His tusks got tangled in the tree roots! Branko pulled and pulled. "Help! I'm stuck!" he squealed.
POP! He came free so fast, he tumbled backwards. CRASH! Right into the acorn pile. Acorns flew like popcorn!
"Maybe I should shake the tree," Branko thought. He pushed against the trunk with all his might. Push, push, PUSH!
The whole tree started swaying! Leaves fell like rain. Branches creaked and groaned. "Timber!" yelled a squirrel.
THUD-THUD-THUD! Giant acorns bonked Branko on the head. He spun in circles, dizzy and confused. "The sky is falling!"
"I know! I'll climb up!" Branko wrapped his legs around the trunk. Climb, slip, climb, slip... SPLAT!
He slid down like a fuzzy fireman's pole! His bottom made a funny squeaking sound. SQUEEEEEAK! all the way down.
At the bottom, Branko bounced off a springy root. BOING! Up he flew! BOING! Down he came! BOING! Like a hairy basketball!
All that bouncing shook loose the perfect amount of acorns! They landed in neat little piles all around the tree.
The squirrels cheered! "Branko, you're the best acorn-shaker ever!" They crowned him with an acorn cap hat.
Now every autumn, everyone waits for Branko's silly acorn dance. BOING! SHAKE! SPLAT! And everybody laughs together!
