Goga Goes to the Top

One bright morning, Goga saw a big hill. It was tall. It was steep. It looked exciting. “I will explore every bit of it,” said Goga.

Goga stood at the bottom and looked up, up, up. His heart beat fast — excited and just a little nervous. He took one deep breath. Then he put his foot on the hill. “Here I go,” he said quietly. “Here I go.”

He ran. He climbed. He scrambled up the bumpy ground. His feet went quick, quick, quick on the rocky path. Then the path got steep. The rocks got slippery. Goga slowed right down and looked around carefully.

He grabbed a round rock and pulled himself higher. Up he went — slow and steady. At last he reached a wide, flat ledge. Goga sat, caught his breath, and kept the small round rock. He liked it.

A gap cut across the path. It was wide. “I can jump that,” said Goga. “I am brave!” He ran. He leaped. He landed with a THUMP. “Yes!” shouted Goga. He felt braver than ever.

But then — a slippery slope, smooth as glass. Goga tried to climb. His feet slid back down. He tried again. Slip! Back down. He sat on the path, feeling small and a little worried.

FWIP! A small blue-and-yellow bird landed beside him. “I know this hill,” chirped Pip. “There is a hidden path. Follow me!” Goga looked at Pip. Pip tilted his head and hopped forward. “Okay,” said Goga, smiling. “Let's go — together!”

Pip fluttered ahead. Goga followed, quick and steady. Up and up they went, side by side. Every step felt easier because Pip was there. “Nearly there!” chirped Pip, wings wide.

One last jump — a big one. Goga leaped with all his might. BOOM! He landed right at the very top of the hill. He had made it. He was there!

Goga cheered so loud the clouds seemed to shake! He spun around. The world looked huge and green and golden. Pip chirped and hopped on his shoulder. “We did it!” cried Goga. “We explored it all!”

They sat together as the sun glowed warm and low. Goga held his small round rock and smiled. Pip chirped softly. The hill felt like theirs. Brave Goga. Quick Pip. Best adventurers on the hill.
