In a small village, everyone rushed inside when they heard heavy footsteps. "Gormak is coming!" mothers called. Windows shut tight. The ground trembled with each thunderous step.
Gormak stood at the village edge, his shadow covering three houses. He looked at his enormous hands. "Why does everyone run from me?" he wondered aloud, his voice rumbling like distant thunder.
Night after night, Gormak sat alone on the hillside. The stars seemed so small and far away. Even the moon hid behind clouds when he appeared. His world felt very empty and quiet.
One evening, something strange happened. The ground beneath Gormak's feet began to glow with soft purple light. Tiny sparkles danced up from the earth like floating seeds. "What magic is this?" he whispered.
The glowing spread in a circle around him. Shimmering vines pushed through the soil, their leaves twinkling like captured starlight. A doorway of twisted branches appeared, filled with swirling mist that smelled like honey and rain.
Gormak carefully stepped through the glowing doorway. His huge form barely fit, but the branches stretched to let him pass. On the other side, everything sparkled with colors he'd never seen before.
A garden of light stretched before him. Crystal flowers chimed in the breeze. Trees grew upside down with roots that reached toward a glittering sky. Butterflies made of pure light fluttered past his nose.
"Help us, please!" squeaked a tiny voice. Gormak looked down to see a glowing creature no bigger than his thumb. It had wings like soap bubbles and eyes like dewdrops. "Our garden is falling apart!"
More tiny creatures appeared, floating on dandelion seeds and riding on hummingbirds made of mist. They showed Gormak how pieces of their magical garden were turning gray and crumbling. "Only someone very strong can help," they said.
The creatures led him to a massive crystal at the garden's heart. It pulsed weakly, its light fading. "This powers our whole world," they explained. "But it's too heavy for us to move to the healing pool."
Gormak wrapped his enormous arms around the crystal. It was heavier than ten boulders! But he lifted it gently, careful not to crack its delicate surface. The tiny creatures cheered and danced on his shoulders.
Step by careful step, he carried the crystal across bridges made of rainbows. His strength, which usually broke things, now saved them. The creatures sang songs that made flowers bloom in his footprints.
At the healing pool, the water glowed like liquid moonlight. Gormak lowered the crystal into the shimmering depths. Instantly, waves of color rippled outward. The garden began to sparkle brighter than ever before.
"You saved us!" the creatures celebrated. They wove him a crown of glowing vines and painted his claws with stardust. For the first time in his life, Gormak felt his great size was a gift, not a curse.
As dawn approached in the regular world, the garden doorway began to shimmer. "Will I see you again?" Gormak asked his new friends. They pressed a tiny seed into his palm that glowed with warm light.
"Plant this where you feel most alone," they whispered. "We'll always be near." Gormak tucked the precious seed safely in his hand and stepped back through the doorway of twisted branches.
The hillside looked the same, but Gormak felt completely different. He held the glowing seed up to the sunrise. It pulsed with the same rhythm as his heartbeat, reminding him of his new purpose.
That evening, children peeked from windows as Gormak planted the seed by the village well. Immediately, glowing vines sprouted, creating a magical garden right there. "Come see!" he called gently. "I'll protect this for everyone."
Now Gormak tends the village's magical garden. Children play among the glowing flowers while he watches over them. His enormous shadow, once feared, has become the safest place in the whole village.
