Percy yawned as he swept flour from the bakery floor. The busy day was ending, and Paris grew quiet outside the window. "Almost done," he whispered softly.

His friend Marie the mouse finished frosting the last cupcake. "What a day, Percy! We made so many treats." She smiled, dusting sugar from her tiny apron.

The evening sun painted the sky in gentle colors. Percy watched people heading home, their footsteps slow and peaceful. The city seemed to breathe more quietly now.

"Percy," Marie said softly, "shall we make something special? Something just for us?" Her eyes sparkled with a gentle idea. Percy's ears perked up with curiosity.

"Moon bread!" Marie whispered. "My grandmother's recipe. It helps bring the sweetest dreams." She pulled out an old, worn recipe card covered in tiny mouse handwriting.

Together they mixed warm milk and honey. Percy stirred slowly while Marie added lavender petals. The kitchen filled with the most calming, gentle smell.

"Now we knead it softly," Marie showed him. Their paws worked the dough in quiet rhythm. Push, fold, turn. Push, fold, turn. Like a peaceful dance.

While the bread baked, they cleaned together. Every dish washed, every counter wiped. The familiar routine felt cozy and safe, like wrapping in a warm blanket.

Percy sat by the window, watching stars appear. "Today we helped so many friends," he said quietly. "Mrs. Owl got her birthday cake. The little hedgehogs loved their cookies."

"And remember the tired postal pigeon?" Marie added gently. "How happy he looked with that warm croissant." They smiled, thinking of all the joy they'd shared.

The moon bread glowed golden in the oven. Its sweet scent drifted through the bakery like a lullaby. Percy felt his worries melting away like butter.

"You know what I love?" Percy said dreamily. "How our little bakery makes everyone feel at home." Marie nodded, her eyes growing heavy and peaceful.

The timer chimed softly. They took out the moon bread, its crust shimmering with stardust sugar. "Perfect," Marie whispered. "Just like grandmother made."

They each took a warm piece and sat on soft cushions. The bread tasted like clouds and honey. With each bite, Percy felt lighter and more peaceful.

"All our work is done," Percy sighed contentedly. "The dishes clean, the floor swept, the doors locked tight." Nothing left to worry about tonight.

Marie brought out two quilts her mother had made. They wrapped themselves up, feeling safe and warm. The bakery glowed softly in the moonlight.

"Thank you for helping today," Marie yawned. "You're the best friend a mouse could have." Percy smiled sleepily. "And you're the best baker in all of Paris."

Their eyes grew heavy as they watched the stars through the window. The moon bread had worked its magic. Sweet dreams were already beginning to arrive.

Percy and Marie drifted off to sleep, dreaming of tomorrow's gentle adventures. Outside, Paris slept too, peaceful under the starlit sky. Good night, little bakers.
