High on a rocky cliff lived little Pyra. She had sparkly purple wings that shimmered in the sun.

Every morning, Pyra watched eagles soar past her home. "How do they float so high?" she wondered.

"I'll try too!" Pyra flapped her wings super fast. But instead of flying up, she tumbled into soft moss! Plop!

"Oopsie!" giggled Pyra, shaking moss from her snout. A fluffy cloud drifted down to see her.

"Hello, little dragon! I saw you trying," said the cloud kindly. "Watch how I float!" The cloud bobbed gently.

Pyra tried floating like the cloud. She held her wings out wide and took tiny hops. Hop, hop, hop!

Each hop felt different. Some were wobbly, some were bouncy. "Which hop feels lightest?" asked the cloud.

Pyra noticed something special. When she spread her wings slowly and pushed down, she stayed up longer!

"The air holds me when I push it!" Pyra squeaked excitedly. She practiced the slow, strong push again.

This time, her toes left the ground for three whole seconds! The cloud cheered, "You're learning!"

"Oh! I don't need to flap fast!" Pyra realized. "I need to push the air down with strong, slow wings!"

Pyra took a deep breath. Push... lift... glide! She rose up, up, up into the sunset sky!

"I'm flying! I'm really flying!" Pyra soared in circles around her cloud friend, who danced with joy.

Together they painted loop-de-loops across the orange sky. Other dragons watched and clapped their wings.

That night, Pyra dreamed of tomorrow's flight. "Learning feels like magic!" she whispered to the stars.
