Milo loved his quiet corner at preschool. He sat there every morning with his favorite book. "Why do the others play so loud?" he wondered.

From his cozy spot, he could see everything. The block tower builders. The dress-up dancers. The puzzle masters at their tables.

"How do they know what to say to each other?" Milo thought. "How do they become friends so fast?" He hugged his knees and watched.

Today, something was different. A girl named Luna sat alone by the toy trains. Her shoulders shook a little. Was she crying?

Milo peeked around his book. Luna held a broken train car in her hands. The red wheel had popped off and rolled away somewhere.

He watched her search under tables and behind the bookshelf. No wheel. Luna's frown grew bigger. Milo's tummy felt funny seeing her sad.

Other kids rushed past Luna, busy with their games. The teacher was helping someone paint. Nobody seemed to notice the broken train.

Milo spotted something red under the reading rug's corner. The wheel! It must have rolled all the way there when it broke off.

He could tell the teacher. Or he could call to Luna from his corner. But his voice felt stuck. His hands felt sweaty. What if she laughed?

"Maybe she doesn't want help," Milo told himself. "Maybe she likes fixing things alone, like me." He pulled his book closer.

But Luna kept searching, crawling on the carpet now. Her favorite train just sat there, broken. Milo's chest felt tight watching.

He tried to read, but the words looked blurry. Luna sniffled. "Maybe being alone isn't always good," he whispered to his book.

Milo took a deep breath. Then another. He didn't have to use big words. He just had to be kind, like when Dad helped him.

Slowly, Milo walked to the rug and picked up the wheel. His legs felt wobbly. But Luna needed this wheel more than he needed his corner.

"Is this yours?" His voice came out tiny. Luna's eyes went wide. "My wheel! You found it!" Her smile was bigger than the sun.

Together, they clicked the wheel back on. The train rolled perfectly! "You're really good at finding things," Luna said. "Thank you, Milo."

She knew his name! "Want to build a track?" Luna asked. Milo nodded. Maybe friends didn't need lots of words after all.

They built bridges and tunnels, working quietly side by side. Sometimes Luna hummed. Sometimes Milo pointed where tracks could go.

When circle time came, Luna saved Milo a spot. His quiet corner would wait. He had discovered something better—helping felt like sunshine inside.
