Toto and the Tumbling Tower

Toto found the acorns first thing that morning. There were SO many! “I will build a tower,” said Toto. “The tallest tower EVER.”

Toto began to stack, one acorn at a time. Up. Up. Up. The little tower wobbled — but it stood!

“Higher!” said Toto, because taller meant better. Toto stretched. Toto reached. The tower swayed left. Then right.

CLATTER! The acorns tumbled everywhere. Toto sat very still. “Oh,” said Toto quietly.

Toto stacked again. Up. Up. Up. Up. This time Toto went even slower. But the tower wobbled — and down it came! CLATTER!

A small bird landed nearby. Her name was Pip. “Your base is too tiny,” said Pip. “So it tips!” Toto looked. Pip was right.

“Can you help?” asked Toto. “Of course!” said Pip. “I'll hold the top. You stack the bottom.” Toto felt brave again.

Toto stacked wide and sturdy at the base. Pip balanced each acorn gently on top. Up. Up. Up. Up. UP!

The tower stood tall. It did NOT wobble. Toto and Pip stared at it. “We did it!” they both shouted.

They jumped. They spun. Toto's ears perked way up! “CLATTER!” — but this time, it was a happy clatter. Because they knocked it down on PURPOSE.

The acorns scattered like tiny treasure all around. Toto looked at Pip. Pip looked at Toto. “Again?” said Toto, ears wiggling. “Again,” said Pip.
